When I switch my tank over to discus I will need a creature to eat hair algae for me.  I usually use siamese algae eaters when I get a hair algae invasion, however they are very active and would not be a good mix with discus.  I knkow that amano shrimp will eat hair algae some and was wondering if they would do OK in the tank conditions that discus need (high temps and lower pH, soft water).  I know that the discus will eat some of the shrimp, but I have had amanos in with angelfish before and most of them figured out how to survive.

Someone on the google TFA list said they recieved black mts snails.  Has anyone ever heard of them?  They sound intersting.  Personally, I like malaysian trumpet snails.  They keep your gravel or sand turned, they don't eat plants and they help clean up the tank.  I just have the regular ones, but it would be cool to have black ones too.

My shrimp are doing well.  I put them into my 2 gallon with my killi fish.  With the addition of the new dog I am currently banned from setting up any more fish tanks or items that hold water with the purpose of holding aquatic animals.  Maybe in a few months I can sneak in a 10 gallon:)  The shrimp are pretty cool.  2 out of the 4 have started to turn red.  I also went out to The Fish Place in buffalo NY and they had some crystal red shrimp (CRS) too, these had some white on them and looked good so I bought 2 of them to add to the group.  I like these little shrimp:)  I have been looking at different shrimp online and I really like black and white bumble bee shrimp.  I can't wait to have a house with a fish room.  There are so many different creatures I want!!!

Today I recieved a surprise box from a guy I bought some fish from.  In it were some crystal red shrimp:)  These will be my first fresh water shrimp to attempt to keep and possibly breed.  I have kept amanos before, but obviously did not breed them as they only breed in brackish or salt water conditions.  Any tips?  He also sent me some snails, ramshorns.
