Hi everyone,  Any idea what a good set of guidelines would be for keeping pure bloodlines in a mixed species tank.  I know I can't mix swords with swords, but can swords and platies be kept together, guppies and gambusia?  What about the different gooedid clades?

I am pretty sure that swords and platies will interbreed.  I think that most of the store platies have some swordtail genes in them, I am almost positive the "high fin" platy does.  I also think guppies and gambusia can interbreed, and I know that most people do not mix goodeids, however I also read that there were a few that could be kept together that would not breed because their behavior is very different.  I can't recall what kinds though.  I had come across a list of different live bearers that will interbreed and ones that can be safely kept together.  If I find it again I will put a link to it here.
